On nytimes.com today, a question was posed for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and her attitude in the upcoming Democratic presidential debate this week: “Be aggressive or lay off?”
After nearly 24 debates, Clinton finds herself behind Sen. Barack Obama in delegates and does not have much time to make up the gap before the Democratic National Convention. To close the deficit in the race, Clinton has to make a strong and appealing showing in the debate on Wednesday in Philadelphia.
The Pennsylvania primary is April 22 and Clinton is 140 delegates behding Obama despite recent wins in Texas and Ohio.
Clinton’s aides say that are not sure how she will handle her deamnor in the debate.
“Senator Clinton doesn’t want to do anything that makes her look like a spoiler,” Bill Carrick said. Carick is a veteran Democratic strategist.
